But it feels so good! For a moment or two!
Compulsive behaviour (also known as Non-Substance Related Addiction) is a compulsion to engage in a specific activity even when it may be harmful to a persons health, financial state, social life or mental state.
Compulsive behaviours may include:
- Gambling
- Shopping
- Food
- Video Games
- Internet
- Work
- Exercise
The reasons and causes for compulsive behaviours are individual and personal. They involve complex emotional issues that require support from a professional therapist to help you overcome the behaviour pattern. Often there may be feelings of shame, guilt and isolation related to the uncontrollable compulsion.
My Philosophy is to provide a therapeutic, nurturing and supportive environment to explore your patterns and behaviours.
In particular we will look at the individual biological, psychological and social influences that may be cuasing the issue. With experience in a range of therapies we will work together in gaining deeper insight. Some of the therapies I work with include:
- Psychotherapy
- Hypnotherapy
- Mind Body Therapy
- Insight Therapy
- Emotion Focused Therapy
- Mindfulness and Acceptance Therapy
- Visualisation and Relaxation Techniques
- Yogi Philosophy
